Today's DMM Advisory has a notice about new Move Update standards that mailers need to be aware of, and prepare for:

The USPS published a notice in today’sFederal Register [HTML | PDF] to revise the Move Update standards for First-Class Mail and extend the revised standards to Standard Mail. Move Update helps mailers reduce the number of mailpieces that require forwarding or return by matching a mailer's address records with customer-filed change-of-address orders. Our new standards require mailers to update their mailing lists a minimum of 95 days before mailing, and extend theMove Update requirements to all types ofStandard Mail.

These changes will improve the percentage of deliverable addresses for mailings entered at discounted rates and will help us control the costs associated with undeliverable mail.To give mailers time to prepare, the revised standards are effective on November 23, 2008

Have a great weekend all!

Lisa
