The USPS Confirm Pricing Structure proposed in the 2007 Rate Case is undergoing some serious scrutiny by current subscribers. The USPS has proposed a pricing structure based on scan “units”. First Class mail would be approximately 3 units, while Standard Mail would be almost 15 units – thus making Standard Mail tracking cost much more than First Class tracking – for the same service.
In addition, there are questions as to how to track unit usage, and users will not want to pay for scans that are erroneous. With units being tracked on a subscription basis – with no rollover – tracking usage would be critical to avoid wasting any units at the end of the subscription period.
Current Confirm subscribers need to be aware of the proposed changes and speak up. If you are a Confirm user, or Confirm prospective user, contact me for details on exactly what the changes would mean to you.
