Mail.dat® and Post-Presort Software
Although Presort software is necessary and very powerful, one of its limitations is that it can be difficult and time-consuming to make any changes to the mailing once the presort is complete. With Post-Presort software and Mail.dat files, mailers can not only generate postage statements that accurately reflect a day's mailing, but they are also in a better position to deal quickly with last-minute changes or unforeseen circumstances.

Electronic Round Stamps on Postage Statements
As of March 15, 2010, the United States Postal Service® stopped manually applying a round stamp receipt on hard-copy postage statements submitted at facilities equipped with PostalOne!® This means a lot of mailers will no longer get a physical marking of mail verification and acceptance on their postage statements. Other mailers facing the same issue are those that are required to transmit postage statements electronically via the USPS PostalOne! system in order to participate in the Intelligent Mail Full-Service option.
Window Book's DAT-MAIL has been enhanced to enable mailers to generate and print an Electronic Round Stamp on their Postage Statement receipts. Once PostalOne! finalizes the postage statement, DAT-MAIL can produce an eRound Stamp on the postage statement receipt with the corresponding Mailing Group ID# and PS# from PostalOne! Email postalspecialist@windowbook.com for more information on Electronic Round Stamp.

White Paper
Mail.dat® & Mail.XMLTM: Ride the Wave of Electronic Communication or Get Crushed By It!
A lot of people in the mailing industry are asking the same question recently: which file format should I choose? The answer is really quite simple. Both! We all know by now that a Mail.dat file is quite robust and contains large amounts of valuable mailing information. This is very beneficial, except when you only need portions of the information that resides in the file. In these cases, it can be time consuming and a strain on transmission and storage resources to send entire Mail.dat files back and forth between parties in the mailing supply chain. This is when Mail.XML comes in handy. When a full Mail.dat file is not necessary, you can use Mail.XML to transmit only the information that is being updated, modified or queried. Visit /maildat to download this white paper and learn more about Mail.dat and Mail.XML.
