Effective June 10, 2012, mailers will be able to access the new postage statement features for mailings that have mail dates of June 24, 2012 or after. At this point, mailers will be able to submit Mail.dat files to PostalOne! in Mail.dat versions 11-2 or 12-1 for mailings with mail dates before June 24, 2012. Version 12-2 Mail.dat files will only be accepted for mailings with mail dates of June 24, 2012 or after. Then, effective on June 24, 2012, mailers may submit files in versions 12-1 or 12-2, with version 11-2 files only being accepted for updates to mailings previously submitted with version 11-2 files.

mail.dat 12-2 for usps mailings

Mail.dat is the primary type of data accepted by the USPS for PostalOne! eDoc, and as the new 12-2 version goes into effect on June 24, 2012, it is imperative for your software applications to be ready to support these changes easily and in a timely manner.

Use IMb by January 2013 to Maintain Your Automation Discounts

USPS® Announces Mandatory IMb Implementations for 2013 and 2014
Currently you have the options to use POSTNET, IMb Basic or Full-Service to qualify for automation discounts. Starting January 2013 - which is only 6 1/2 months away and rapidly approaching - the USPS plans to stop offering automation discounts for using POSTNET barcodes on your mail. Effective January 2013, you will need to at least use the basic Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMb) to qualify for automation discounts. Then, in January 2014 only Full-Service IMb will qualify for automation discounts.

Changing business practices can seem daunting and troublesome, but the fact is if you do not migrate to IM Full-Service, you will not be able to get automation discounts, your cost of mailing is going to sky rocket, and you simply will not be able to continue to stay in the mailing business.

So, if you are not currently not using Intelligent Mail barcodes or eDoc, we urge you to begin your implementation plan now to get on board with Intelligent Mail barcode services. If you are already using IMb Basic, don't forget that in January 2014, the Full-Service level of Intelligent Mail will be the only way you will qualify for automation presort rates! So, contact Window Book as soon as possible to begin your migration to eDoc and Full-Service to secure your automation discounts - and your business - well into the future.

DAT-MAIL Prep™ - Save tons of processing time with your Mail.dat files

Do you use Mail.dat files to communicate mailing information electronically with the United States Postal Service® (USPS®) and your partners? Then, you must know how critical it is to be able to configure the Mail.dat data – view, validate, edit, split, merge, convert – quickly and efficiently to meet production and delivery deadlines.

If you don't have the right tools, it can be very time consuming to import and validate your Mail.dat data; sometimes you even have to re-start your import every time you encounter a validation error - and it can take a very long time to process these files.

Your solution:
Window Book's new product, DAT-MAIL Prep, is the perfect solution for anyone who has to work with Mail.dat data, and is a stand-alone product that mailers can use to do the initial 'bulk' processing before they actually import Mail.dat files into their post-presort software.

DAT-MAIL Prep has 3 versions - Viewer, Editor and Ultra - so it can easily meet your specific needs:

DAT-MAIL Prep Viewer: view your Mail.dat and CSA files
DAT-MAIL Prep Editor: update, edit, validate and convert Mail.dat files (perfect for comminglers!)
DAT-MAIL Prep Ultra: include all the functionalities above AND Mail.dat Splitter and Merger features.
