Nuts and Bolts about Mail.dat & Mail.XML

As increasing numbers of business mailers communicate electronically with the Postal Service™ via the PostalOne!® system, they can now learn more about Mail.dat® and Mail.XML™ from Window Book’s White Paper, Mail.dat & Mail.XML: Ride the Wave of Electronic Communication or Get Crushed by It!. Mail.dat and Mail.XML are the two primary types of data files the United States Postal Service® (USPS®) PostalOne!® system accepts for communicating mailing information electronically, and they facilitate the Intelligent Mail® Full-Service option for electronic documentation (eDocs). In this white paper, mailers will learn how Mail.dat and Mail.XML work together for eDocs, why they need to implement eDocs to stay competitive, and how they can benefit from fully utilizing the data.

“We have been on the leading edge of educating business mailers to work smarter, not harder. This Mail.dat and Mail.XML white paper is the first in a series of educational white papers that we will be publishing in an effort to keep mailers informed on everything new going on in the direct mailing industry. Mailers can expect to learn more from Window Book about other Postal topics including the differences between Presort and Post-Presort software, Intelligent Mail, and Priority Mail® Open and Distribute,” said Jeffery Peoples, Window Book’s President and CEO.

Window Book is constantly updating their Smart Postal Software Solutions to be aligned with ever changing USPS regulations and options as well as meeting their clients’ needs. DAT-MAIL includes Intelligent Mail solutions to help mailers comply with Intelligent Mail Full Service requirements, including Intelligent Mail barcoded sack/tray tags and pallet placards, eDocs using Mail.dat and Mail.XML files, and FAST® web services for drop-ship appointment setting.
