The
USPS Confirm program allows mailers to upload
information about their PLANET coded mailings and to print barcoded8125 and 3152-A forms in order to receive electronic
induction notifications.
Under this
Confirm mail tracking program, the mailer must create barcoded 8125’s
for plant verified drop shipped mailings and 3152-A's
for non-plant verified mailings in order to participate. Mailers
must also create a file that describes the contents of each 8125 or 3152-A and upload
to the USPS database. Our CONFIRM module
automatically creates the upload file and make it easy to transfer the data.
Getting the best of both worlds
Alternatively, some customers may want to use TrackMyMail.com for this same delivery
tracking service of PLANET coded mailings. The TrackMyMail module will support only
the TrackMyMail service, while our Confirm module allows mailers
to use both services. It will print the barcoded 8125 and 3152-A
forms, create ‘EMD’ v. 4.0 files and upload them to the either the USPS
or TrackMyMail.com depending on the status of the Client setting.
This module allows you to set which programs will be supported for each of your
Clients. Confirm supports
TrackMyMail.com users who can get their PLANET code tracking reports
via the web. TrackMyMail.com
users also do not need to pay USPS subscriber fees and can get started
with Confirm right away, without USPS approval. It also offers the ability
to download ‘Start the Clock’ induction notifications and post them to Window Book's
statement database so induction reports can be run showing
the time, date and place each mailing was received by the USPS.
What does this mean for Post Master and DAT-MAIL users?
For both Post Master and DAT-MAIL users, the CONFIRM Modulewill allow you to edit the EMD data and print the 3152-A and USPS required
Barcoded 8125s to reflect this data. The Confirm EMD file is linked to
the 8125 file for drop shipped mailings and the statement file for non-drop-shipped
mailings. Multiple Planet Code support available. Note: For those
using DAT-MAIL, the module can also take Planet Code data directly from the
Mail.dat files and update the Confirm files with the information so
that manual entry will not be needed.
Confirm Module for DAT-MAIL
If our DAT-MAIL™ software
is being used, the Confirm information is present in the Seed Name Record (SNR)
file and also in the Single Piece Record (SPR) file. The SNR is more commonly used
for these applications.
When we generate an 8125 from DAT-MAIL™, we can automatically create the EMD file
for the most complex mailings. Most Mailings may only use one planet code per job,
but there are some mailers that will do other schemes like one planet code per version,
which in a non-identical mailing could mean that there are many different planet
codes present in one 8125. DAT-MAIL™ can handle that situation easily.
For those customers that are preparing their 8125’s and 3152’s from DAT-MAIL™, we
can do some remarkable things that really add value:
- DAT-MAIL's 8125’s reflect the real mailings. If a shipment to an entry point is
too large to go on a single trailer, we can create separate 8125’s for each trailer.
We also allow the user to add information like trailer, stop number, and the carrier.
- There is a wealth of important information that DAT-MAIL™ has
that the USPS does not ask for as part of the EMD upload, nor would
this data be easy for a mailer to extract outside of the Mail.dat
file. When we create the EMD files for the USPS, we can create
a 2nd file for the mailer that contains not only the information in the EMD file,
but additional information that will be useful in analyzing the delivery statistics.
This information can be made available to the mailer’s or mail owner’s reporting
system or uploaded to a third party service like Trackmymail.com for analysis.
Confirm Module for Post Master
Under the United States Postal Service's Confirm program, the mailer must create
barcoded 8125's for plant verified drop shipped mailings and 3152-A’s for non-plant
verified mailings. They must also create a file that describes the contents of each8125 or 3152-A and upload it to the United
States Postal Service. The information needed would be entry facility
info, number of pieces, number of planet coded pieces and the planet code(s) in
the mailing. Post Master provides this capability. The simplicity and easy-to-use
functionality of the Confirm Module makes participation in this important USPS
program simple and affordable.
