This release includes support for the January 2013 USPS rates. (Case 8217 and subcases).

  • We've improved support for network printing, which now provides profiles that can be shared and assigned on a by-user basis. (Case8193)
  • We added a URL field to the mailer configuration communications area for PPP Presort server URL. (Case 8819)
  • We corrected an installer problem that caused it to offer to install SQL Server during the workstation install. (Case 9527)
  • We corrected the centering of the PPP window. (Case 9587)
  • We added 'Starts with', ' Ends With' and 'Contains' options to the ODBC Like feature. You can now use SQL Like function to match and lookup customer/order info in external data source values with wildcards (ie: SQL Like) at the beginning, end and/or middle of yourdata. This case also adds support for special characters in the field names used in the where clause. (Case 9693)
  • We re-enabled an option that will allow mailers to control whether mixed IMpb and non-IMpb pieces appear on the same manifest. (Case 9694)
  • We made some changes to remove publicly identifiable data (company name) from PPP stats collection. Collection of stats is already encrypted, but the data was removed despite this. (Case 9708)
  • We improved the validation of GSS authentication info. (Case 9717)
  • We corrected issues producing Form 3800 (CEL-43) for Certified Mail with Electronic Return Receipt. (Case 9728)

Features added / Fixes applied:

8.13.26.10

  • This release includes support for January 2013 USPS rates. (Case 8217 and subcases)

  • We added an option to disallow the use of the 13 to 16 ounce First-Class package Commercial Plus rates unless you acknowledge in PPP's advanced settings that your business has a signed agreement with the USPS to use those rates, per USPS DMM requirements. (Case 9360)

  • We added an option to disable Signature Confirmation. (Case 9372)

  • We improved the backup program to better document the backup file names and clean up the backup file list presented at restore time. We also limited the "Restore last good backup" to a backup from the same day, since it is primarily intended to restore from a backup made during a PPP upgrade. (Case 9510)

  • We corrected an error that prevented the email message type from defaulting on the import window. (Case 9555)

Features added / Fixes applied:

8.13.25.12

(Includes Notes for unreleased versions 8.13.25.01 - 8.13.25.12)

  • This release includes support for the January 2013 USPS rates. (Case 8217 and subcases).
  • We added better detection of Read-Only and Mapped Drives in the backup utility. Read-Only folders and mapped drives previously were causing backup failures as a result of the SQL Server service login not having access. (Case 7823)
  • We corrected a GPF that was caused when processing APO/FPO and US Territory shipments between midnight and 3:00 am. (Case 9118)
  • We added scripting to avoid occasional SQL authentication issues when connecting to the database. (Case 9188)
  • We corrected a problem that caused confusion and a seemingly incorrect rate display after selecting First-Class Mail while a package is on the scale connected to PPP. Normally, PPP resets the weight to .16 ounces after that rate is selected (it does not do this with other rates or mail classes). With a scale in use in this situation, PPP saw conflicting weights and ignored the scale weight until the scale was touched or the package was removed/replaced. (Case  9308)
  • We expanded the description for Parcel Select to "Parcel Select Nonpresort" on the rate selection window to make it more clear which rate would be used. (Case 9317)
  • We corrected a problem that caused processing category to disappear when switching from Priority Mail package to Express Mail and then to First-Class. (Case 9322)
  • We corrected a problem that prevented printing IMb barcodes on First-Class letters and flats. (Case 9356)
  • We corrected a problem that prevented HTTP tracking from updating the Package Logging table. (Case 9482)
  • We corrected a problem that caused PPP to use the wrong scan event file format for IMpb users. The old scan event format is still used for non-IMpb users. (Case 9494)
  • We corrected a problem that prevented PPP from updating tracking statuses in the database when using HTTP tracking and the Dazzle interface. (Case 9500)
  • Doc update: A FTP issue with private insurance uploads was not added to the release notes, this was fixed in case 8123 in November 2012.
Includes Permit Balance Tracking / Statements v8.13.28.4.

  • We corrected an error that was causing barcode constructs to be incorrect in SSF electronic files. (Case 9125)

Postal Package Partner 8.13.22.05 --  Public Release 2/15/13  9:30 am
  Postal Package Partner 8.13.22.05

UPGRADING from PPP version 7 or earlier? Before running this install, you must update to PPP 7.13.6.10 (or later) to bring your system to a known state for the conversion to Microsoft SQL.

Features added / Fixes applied:

(Includes Notes for unreleased PPP versions 8.13.22.01 - 8.13.22.04)

This release includes support for January 2013 USPS rates. (Case 8217 and subcases)
We corrected a problem that caused the full PIC to print on a label rather than just the sequence number portion. The full PIC could overlay part
of the return address, depending on the address being used. (Case 8948)
We added a new field (WBSFReferenceNo) to the package table to allow for the upcoming Shipping Services File import feature. The WBSFReferenceNo allows mailers to tie an incomplete SSF detail that is missing address info to an imported address entry that can complete it. (Case 9067)
We corrected a problem that caused a message to pop up when sending more than 100 packages to the same address. PPP can now send 1000 packages to a single address in a single manifest. (Case 9069)
We added the ability to mark a package as read only for all functionality other than tracking. This is a requirement for upcoming Shipping Services File import functionality. (Case 9075)
We removed some unnecessary fields/files from the package export query list because they were not exportable from the package export and they added to the complexity of the export query interface. Note: There is a problem with the database driver we use in conjunction with the "Between" syntax in the query wizard. To work around this, use a combination of "Greater than or equal to" and "Less than or equal to" operators in queries. (Case 9091)
We corrected behavior of the default button (the button that gets "clicked" when you press enter) on the Daily Shipping Package Info window. (Case 9102)
We corrected a problem that caused Priority Mail Dimensional pieces (line A27) to fail to print on the 3600-PM, despite appearing on the manifest. (Cases 9138 and 9144)

Includes Permit Balance Tracking / Statements  8.13.23.3.

Features added / Fixes applied:

(Includes Notes for unreleased PPP version 8.13.21.01)

This release includes support for January 2013 USPS rates. (Case 8217 and subcases)
We corrected some manifest and statement print errors. Flats, Irregular Parcels and Machinable Parcels were not being split onto separate statements. (Case 8958)
We fine-tuned our PIC analysis, new as of Jan 2013 due to adding support for six-digit Mailer IDs.  At times, the analysis would pop up a message saying "PIC appears to be non-standard" but would not elaborate on what to do next. (Case 9038)
We corrected an error that caused the "Export New and Changed entries" to fail to find new and changed entries, leaving an often-empty export file depending on the mail classes being used. (Case 9050)
We corrected a problem that caused a lengthy delay when opening the Daily Shipping window when the computer's default printer was on a network and unavailable. (Case 9057)

Includes Permit Balance Tracking / Statements  8.13.22.2

Features added / Fixes applied:

(Includes Notes for unreleased PPP version 8.13.19.01)

This release includes support for January 2013 USPS rates. (Case 8217 and subcases)
We corrected a problem that caused Job and Tray info to be printed on 4"x5" 4 up PMOD labels even when the setting to print that info was turned off. (Case 9016)
We noticed that customers who previously used "None" as a delivery confirmation option on PMOD imports were still using that option after Jan 28, 2013 rate/IMpb changes. As of Jan 28, 2013, tracking is included in Priority Mail for commercial mailers, so we now enable Delivery Confirmation by default so that barcodes are generated properly. (Case 9017)
We corrected a MID printing problem with 6 digit MIDs. (Case 9018)
We corrected a problem that caused some zones of mail to appear on the Critical Mail postage statement lines. (Case 8995)
We corrected a problem with Standard Post label printing, which operates as an exception case due to fee changes for tracking. (Case 9001)
We corrected a problem that caused postage amount exports to be zero. (Case 9024).

This release includes support for January 2013 USPS rates. (Case 8217 and subcases)
We implemented changes in USPS products/services for the January 2013 update. (Case 8218)
We have expanded the customer reference fields to 40 characters, which will allow IMpb barcode text generated outside of PPP to be tied to a
package in PPP. (Case 8384)
We corrected a problem that caused Excel exports of long order numbers to display in Excel as exponents. These fields will now display as a label (text). (Case 8403)
We added the full IMpb barcode text string to the package and package log tables and made them available for export. (Case 8506)
We added support for Jan 2013 postage statements. (Case 8513)
We updated support for the current release of Dazzle, which is required due to IMpb changes. (Case 8767)
We made changes to the construction of Shipping Storage Files (SSF, ie: electronic manifest files) to adhere to Jan 2013 requirements added to SSF 1.6. (Case 8570)
We made changes to implement USPS Parcel Post-> Standard Post changes. (Case 8572)
We made changes to handle First Class Package Service surcharge changes for small and irregular items as well as those without a barcode. (Case 8578)

References to now-obsolete DUNS numbers are now changed to Mailer ID (MID). (Case 8628)
We added IMpb support to our consolidator labels. (Case 8629)
We added MID validation to the Mailer Configuration screen so that IMpb cannot be turned on for 9 digit mailer IDs that do not start with a 9.
Note:  DUNS numbers cannot be used for IMpb. Mailers must apply for a MID on the USPS Business Customer Gateway. (Case 8649)
We corrected a database issue that caused a communication error with the USPS when uploading manifests. (Case 8689)
We added support for the 6-digit Mailer ID (MID). (Case 8693)
We updated the Dazzle interface to support Jan 2013 rates/services. (Case 8767)
We resolved a problem with sequence numbers on first run after moving to new sequencing scheme. (Case 8806)
We made changes to deal with Service Type Code changes still coming from the USPS. These are current as of Jan 8, 2013. (Case 8807)
We added a small delay (0.10 sec)  to the process that creates dynamic barcode images in order to eliminate some hang conditions on large PMOD jobs. (Case 8840)
We resolved a problem that caused entry point text to not print on PMOD sack labels. (Case 8853)
We resolved a problem that caused an error 33 when closing the Unconfirmed EFN List window. (Case 8857)

UPGRADING from PPP version 7 or earlier? Before running this install, you must update to PPP 7.13.6.10 (or later) to bring your system to a known state for the conversion to Microsoft SQL.

Features added / Fixes applied:

(Includes Notes for PPP versions 8.13.06.01 - 8.13.06.15)

We corrected a problem that prevents the security login from appearing. (Case 8214)

GSS packages now appear on the Daily Shipping window's Communications tab. (Case 8228)

We added the content of the individual communication text log files to the System Log so they will be visible from any network location. (Case 8230)

We corrected some misleading display behavior on the FTP definition screen for non-USPS sites. (Case 8231)
We corrected a problem that sometimes caused windows to open up outside th visible screen area. This could happen if screen resolution changed or if a second (etc) monitor is removed from a system. (Case 8235)
We removed requirements to have DMN, DMH (import agent files) and customs item data in a PSQL database prior to conversion. (Case 8246)
We corrected a problem that prevented some database triggers from being built during the installation process. (Case 8263)
We corrected an error in our SQL script runner that prevented scripts from completing and improved the quality/details of its error/process
logging. (Case 8266)
The PGA table was not being initialized properly. (Case 8266)
We corrected a problem affecting updates to shipping statuses after a USPS download. (Case 8291)
The postal service informed us that all 1.6 file format transmissions are assumed to be IMpb, so we disabled 1.6 transmissions for mailers who are not IMpb certified. The 1.3/1.6 choice is made automatically based on IMpb status and the type of mail. (Case 8296)
We clarified explanatory text on the IMB mailer ID field in Mailer Configuration. (Case 8298)
The installer will now warn you if you attempt to install the server or standalone version on a computer that was previously used to install the
workstation version of PPP. When multi-user configurations are upgraded, the server should be upgraded first using the server install, then each workstation using the workstation install. (Case 8301)
We made a change to ignore the mailer configuration advanced setting for concatenated barcodes for IMpb parcels. IMpb barcodes are already concatenated. (Case 8305)
We corrected a problem that prevented mailers from printing a day's GSS paperwork all at one time. (Case 8306)
Changes were made to wbBackup to make its backup history independent of any database or table name. (Case 8316)
We resolved a GPF that occurred during GSS transmission. This error was limited  to the 8.13.6.13 beta install. (Case 8325)
We added address validation for GSS-qualified mailings for new USPS addressing rules in effect as of Sept 30, 2012. Adding this validation
prevents errors during mailing info transmission to the USPS. This validation is done both for manual address entry and file imports. Import
validation messages go to the system log, while manual entry validation messages are interactive.  (Case 8344)
Includes Permit Balance Tracking / Statements  8.13.17.1

Postal Package Partner 8.13.05.03 --  Public Release 9/14/12  2:10 pm
  Postal Package Partner 8.13.05.03

We continued to centralize logging of messages and errors, this time adding communications log info (Case 8049) as well as email error details (Case 8165) to the System Log.

We added a "Test FTP Connection" button to the FTP setup form for non-USPS FTP setups. (Case 8122)
We added number of pieces and tray numbers to the PMOD/EMOD slide label / tray tag / sack tag "Printer Line" and "Mailer's Area" to allow for easier matching of tags and sacks/trays. (Case 8139)

Includes Permit Balance Tracking / Statements  8.13.16.2

  Previous versions:

  8.13.14.03

We added functionality to meet new USPS GSS requirements for sender and recipient name parsing in electronic customs data for international shipments. Prior to Sept 30th 2012, you may need to contact the USPS to set your GSS account to use the new rules. As of Sept 30th 2012, ALL international shippers using GSS (which should be everyone) must use software that supports these changes. (Case 7925)
We added the ability to clear tags when a new search is entered on the print labels tab in Daily Shipping. (Case 8000)
We corrected a problem on the customs items maintenance screen causing it to discard country info when country was "US". (Case 8092)
New PPP customer systems are now defaulted to IMpb and electronic shipping file format 1.6, which becomes mandatory in January 2013. There is an option to allow you to fall back to format 1.3 if necessary. Existing customers will not be impacted by this new default shipping file format setting. (Case 8098) Note: The USPS requires customers to work with them to certify the correctness of their electronic file transmission
and IMpb labels. We can help with this process via our "onboarding" service, delivered by our PPP/USPS/onboarding expert.
We corrected a small typo on the Package Info Download window. (Case 8103)
The "All" button was adding a blank field to the import field list - corrected. (Case 8105)
We corrected a problem importing dates that were not zero-filled, such as 8/25/2012 vs 08/24/2012. (Case 8106)
We corrected an issue that prevented selection of printers from the print preview for a thermal 4x6 label. 4 up 4x6 labels still require keeping the original printer selection. (Case 8115)
We added the ability to adjust the horizontal positioning of the IMpb barcode, in addition to the entire-label adjustments already in place. (Case 8130)
We fixed a bug that caused container counts to appear on non-PMOD postage statements. (Case 8135)
We added PMOD import validation feedback to the system log and suppressed the message boxes that displayed for each
error because they could be tedious to dismiss repeatedly on large imports. (Case 8136)
We cleaned up the user interface for Express Mail manifesting settings in mailer configuration. (Case 8138)
Includes Permit Balance Tracking / Statements  8.13.15.1.

  8.13.03.13

We improved the job number display on the package edit window in Daily Shipping. (Case 7781)
We improved import-time messages so they would do a better job of catching file open failures due to security and related restrictions. (Case 7902)
We corrected a file access problem that would cause the Communicate function to stop processing without warning. (Case 7915)
We clarified the accelerator keys (alt-letter) on the outbound harmonization code search window. (Case 7960)
We removed COMMLog from the required list of files for the PSQL to MSSQL conversion. (Case 7963)
We added an integrity check for the workstation-specific return address info on the Daily Shipping package info window. If a workstation's saved return address entry is deleted from the database, we now use the default return address setup. (Case 7968)
We corrected the URL for "Check for updates" so that it would return accurate results for PPP's MSSQL version. (Case 7973 and 7977)
We completed an internal coding project (Cases 7981, 7988 and 7989)
We corrected a problem with IMPB barcode placement and improved the adjustment capabilities of the label. (Case 8003)
We corrected the file version setting for the IMPB electronic file (manifest), which was affecting validation for shipping file format 1.6 files. (Case 8005)
We added a warning when a 2976-A is needed, but PPP is not setup to print them. (Case 8018)
We corrected two problems that could cause 2976-A customs forms to fail to print (Cases 8019 and 8030)
We added programming to prevent the selection of inappropriate file types on our import window. (Case 8027)
We corrected the behavior of the zip/state lookup button on the Mailer Configuration window's Manifesting tab. (Case 8031)

We corrected a situation that would allow the address type to change improperly during address entry. (Case 8055)
We corrected a calculation on the customs items window that recalculates "creatively" entered weights, such as 17 ounces -> 1 lb, 1 ounce. (Case 8060)
We corrected programming related to a popup message about service codes on the Daily Shipping window's Package Info tab. (Case 8061)
We added a button to the toolbar to give quick access to downloading shipping extract files, which contain delivery confirmation and other info. (Case 8063)
We corrected the display of manifest number on the Unconfirmed EFN list window and fixed help icon, which was outdated. (Case 8066)
We corrected some duplicate "accelerator keys" (keys that select buttons/menu items when alt- is pressed) on the Maintenance menu. (Case 8069)
We removed some USPS-specific verification file functionality that is no longer used. (Case 8073)
We corrected a filter on the Daily Shipping, By Order Number tab to remove a SQL error. (Case 8077)
We removed tabs from the P3-2.sql script and added additional syntax to the script to shrink the transaction size. Both were combining to prevent the STC table from being initialized properly during installation. (Case 8082)
We cleaned up menu item accelerator keys. (Case 8083)
We corrected a problem that caused 4 up 4x6 (legal paper) Priority Mail labels to print 8.5 x 11 style when using the print button in the previewer. (Case 8093)
Includes Permit Balance Tracking / Statements  8.13.14.4

  8.13.02.09  -- Public Release

We corrected a problem where retail price pieces were not combined with commercial price pieces on itemized mixed class manifests. (Case 7665)
We added an option to skip the printing container counts on PMOD postage statements, in Case the local USPS agent does not want to see them on the postage statement. (Case 7744)
We grouped all Open and Distribute options together in a group on the advanced settings window on the Mailer Configuration screen. (Case 7744)
We corrected a problem with the rounding of displayed weights after the decimal point on PMOD jobs. The weight stored internally was not affected, only the display. (Case 7790)
We corrected a cosmetic problem with weight text displays on the daily shipping, package info window. (Case 7791)
We corrected a problem where Express Mail Open and Distribute (EMOD) sequence numbers were not correct and our 3152E form facsimile differed from the USPS version. (Case 7799)
We corrected a problem that caused the copy template button to create duplicate names. (Case 7814)
We corrected a problem that prevented the import agent from importing more than 1 file at a time. (Case 7816)
We disabled the ability to map the country field in an import specification when PPP's international features are not registered. Allowing this caused some confusing errors at import time. (Case 7838)
We fixed a cosmetic error in pre-release testing. (Case 7896)
We fixed a missing barcode error on non-IMPB BPM 4x5 4 up labels. (Case 7913)
We fixed an issue with mixed Commercial and Commercial Plus manifest printing. (Case 7914)

We corrected an error that prevented editing the description of outbound harmonization category codes. (Case 7944)
We disabled the option to strap trays for PMOD/EMOD jobs per the DMM. For those who have local permission to strap trays despite what the DMM states, we added an option in advanced settings to enable the strap trays choice. (Case 7949)
We corrected a typo in messages displayed when updating the customs activity code for 2976-A forms. (Case 7964)
